Adorable suit that he is wearing there!
Too bad I currently have neither Peychaud’s nor Lillet Blanc in my home bar stock. I’m a great fan of Vermouth and Wine based cocktails so this one definitely goes on my to-be-mixed-in-future list.
Thanks for your video, noticed that you cut down the introducing part with impressions of Hamburg & Le Lion down a bit, which is probably a good thing to do considering the length of the first video.
Cheers, Ruben

Jay,
This is such a classy drink. I love it. Made it using my 5mo old bottle of Lillet that has neither wine stopper nor refrigeration. How much difference do you notice with Lillet when neglecting to store it “properly?”

The two things I took away from this are:
1) The mixing glass (or pitcher) is on ice
2) The lime twist has the oil expressed, then it is thrown away and a new twist is used for the garnish.
Interesting…

My guess as to the extra twist is that you can’t express as much oil out of a twirly twist than you can a flat piece of peel. So the peel is useful for the oil and the twist for looks.

Ruben – The first episode was an introduction to Hamburg and the bar, hence the longer run time. Now Le Lion has been shown off the other episodes just feature a short introduction so we can get on the drinks.
Rick – I’ve not compared old and fresh bottles of Lillet, I would guess like dry vermouth it will dull over time. Clearly not too badly though, as your drink was still good.
